Why choose an archaeology firm for geophysical surveys?
Make no mistake: Using geophysics for cultural resource management and forensics is a specialty. Many engineering or construction firms that use geophysics will often advertise archaeology or cemeteries as a service, falsely assuming that the skills and equipment needed to locate utilities or USTs are transferrable to archaeology. In reality, geophysical archaeologists are specifically trained to use these methods for cultural resources. We use different field collection strategies, data processing procedures, and most importantly, understand how to analyze and interpret these data for archaeology.
