Tribal consultation is founded on collaboration, respect, and meaningful engagement with Tribal Nations, helping ensure Tribal perspectives, cultural values, and traditional knowledge are considered throughout project planning and environmental review. Consultation may support compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), and other applicable requirements. SRI works alongside Tribal Nations, agencies, and project teams to support meaningful consultation through open communication, coordination, relationship-building, and Tribal Monitoring Training that supports effective field participation, documentation, communication, and discovery-response procedures.
