Dr. Mark Q. Sutton to Present at PCAS May Meeting

Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI) is pleased to share that archaeologist Dr. Mark Q. Sutton will present “Rewriting the Legacy of the Rose Spring Site (CA-INY-372)” during the Pacific Coast Archaeological Society (PCAS) meeting on May 14, 2026.

The presentation will highlight findings from excavations at the Rose Spring site in eastern California, including updated interpretations of village life, obsidian biface production, and ground stone milling technology associated with the Rose Spring phase. The work has important implications for understanding California and Great Basin archaeology.

Dr. Sutton has more than five decades of experience in archaeology and anthropology and has contributed extensively to research, teaching, and publication in the field. In 2022, he received the Society for California Archaeology Lifetime Achievement Award.

The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. Guests are welcome with registration through PCAS.
