Historian/Architectural Historian

Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), a multidisciplinary cultural resources consulting firm, has one full-time position available for a historian/architectural historian at the project director level. SRI provides comprehensive cultural resource management services to private and government clients at the federal, state, and local levels throughout the western United States from offices in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington. SRI is a member of the American Cultural Resources Association.

After completing a 4–6-week orientation period in SRI’s Tucson, AZ, office, the successful applicant will have the choice of being based in one of the following SRI offices: Redlands, CA; or Woodland, CA. Applicants must be willing to travel and to accept short-term assignment to other SRI offices, as required.

Applicants must have documented experience conducting historical and archival research; analyzing historical data; conducting architectural surveys and evaluations; and synthesizing and writing up the results of research (e.g., building and structure inventories and evaluations, HABS/HAER/HALS, NRHP and state register forms, historic contexts). Applicants should minimally possess a Master’s degree in History, Architectural History, or a related field, and meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for history and/or architectural history. Applicants must demonstrate a thorough understanding of Sections 106 and 110 of the NHPA, as amended. Experience in researching the history of California or the American Southwest is preferred. Experience with development and implementation of training programs and presentations related to historic preservation, hands-on building restoration and adaptive reuse planning, historical archaeology, and/or a reading competency in Spanish are a plus.
