SRI Seeks Archaeology's Best
April 3, 2007
In a continuing effort to hire the most talented archaeologists available, SRI will be recruiting at the Society for American Archaeology's (SAA's) annual meeting in Austin, Texas on April 25-27, 2007, at the Austin Convention Center. SRI can be found at Booth 408. SRI's clients expect the company to maintain a high level of quality, and the company's tradition of hiring distinguished scholars and junior archaeologists with the potential for excellence and a vision for success has enabled SRI to continue to exceed client expectations. At the SAA's annual meeting, SRI and talented archaeologists come together, and SRI will be seeking exceptional candidates among those in attendance.
New Executive Officers Named at SRI
January 1, 2007SRI has appointed two new executive officers: Dr. Clay Mathers, Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Dr. Christopher D. Dore, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). These newly created positions at SRI reflect the growth and success of the company over the last several years.
SRI President Dr. Donn Grenda emphasized the timeliness of the CIO position, stating that "information technologies are an increasingly important component to the management and delivery of cultural resources data. The oversight of these tools at the executive level will allow SRI to offer new and exciting services to our clients and bring new efficiencies to our in-house operations." Before being appointed CIO, Dr. Mathers served as the director of SRI's Albuquerque, New Mexico, office. He received a Ph.D. in archaeology from the University of Sheffield, an M.Phil. in geographic information systems and remote sensing from the University of Cambridge, and a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Mathers has taught at the Universities of Sheffield and Manchester, the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and George Mason University. After completing a National Academy of Sciences Fellowship at the Center for Cultural Site Preservation Technology in Mississippi, he worked as the geospatial coordinator for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Albuquerque before joining SRI in 2005.
The creation of the CMO position reinforces SRI's dedication to client service. "As CMO, Dr. Dore will ensure at the executive level that our services bring a value to our clients and that we are meeting the needs and expectations of those we serve," stated Dr. Grenda. Dr. Dore served as the director of SRI's Center for Excellence in Geospatial Technologies since he joined SRI in 2002. He is a director of the Society for American Archaeology and a past president of the American Cultural Resources Association. Dr. Dore holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of New Mexico, an M.A. in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in anthropology from Washington State University. He will receive an M.B.A. from the University of Arizona in 2007. Since his first job processing artifacts in 1982, Dr. Dore has worked as an applied archaeologist for both large and small environmental and cultural resource firms. Dr. Dore also has held faculty positions at five major universities and currently serves as an adjunct assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Arizona.
