Statistical Research at the White House

Washington, 3 May 2004. Dr. Christopher Dore of Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI) attended the Preserve America Presidential Awards at the White House, today. Dr. Dore is the director of SRI’s Cartography & Geospatial Technologies Department. He also is serving a term as president of the American Cultural Resources Association (ACRA), the trade association of the cultural resources industry. Dr. Dore joined other leaders of America’s historic preservation agencies and organizations to celebrate the accomplishments of the awardees and to kick off National Historic Preservation Week. Dr. Dore’s invitation to attend this event is an honor for SRI and the cultural resources industry.
The Preserve America Presidential Awards honor achievement in historic preservation. The recipients are chosen through a national competition administered by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the Department of Commerce and the Department of the Interior, in cooperation with the Executive Office of the President. The awards ceremony, held in the East Room of the White House, was presided over by Mrs. Laura Bush, Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton, and Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Chairman John Nau III. Awards were presented to Lackawanna Heritage Valley (Pennsylvania), Blue Ridge Heritage Initiative (Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia), The Beaumont Hotel (Ouray, Colorado), and Historic Raven Natural Resource Learning Center (Kootenai National Forest, Montana).
