Marlesa Gray New Head of SRI's Historic Department

January 1, 2006

SRI is pleased to announce that Marlesa Gray, M.A., RPA, is now the director of the historic department at SRI. Ms. Gray is the former co-owner and vice president of Gray & Pape, Inc., a Cincinnati-based cultural resource consulting firm. She sold her shares of Gray & Pape to her partner, W. Kevin Pape, in 2002, with retirement as her goal. However, Ms. Gray has said that "the lure of working for such an esteemed company as Statistical Research in a location as wonderful as Tucson was sufficient incentive to return to the profession."

A graduate of Indiana University and Michigan State University, Ms. Gray has conducted historical archaeological investigations throughout the United States. She was a student intern with the National Park Service, Interagency Archeological Services, Atlanta, prior to relocating to Cincinnati, Ohio, to head the cultural resources department at Wapora, Inc., an environmental consulting company. In 1987, she and Kevin Pape partnered to form Gray & Pape, which ultimately incorporated in 1991. Ms. Gray is based in SRI's Tucson office.
