Cartography and Geospatial Technologies Department Satellite Remote Sensing Satellite remote sensing is used by CRM professionals to characterize physiographic settings, classify land cover, identify cultural resources, and conduct change analysis. New high-resolution imagery can even be used to map features within sites. SRI has been a leader in the development and use of satellite remote sensing for CRM applications. SRI staff members have conducted remote-sensing projects for clients in Albania, England, Mexico, Turkey, and many locations in the United States. Our federal clients in the United States include Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the United States Air Force (USAF). SRI recently completed a research project at Nellis Air Force Base's Nevada Test and Training Range to evaluate the use of high-resolution commercial multispectral imagery for automated mathematical archaeological site identification. < Back | Cartography and Geospatial Technologies Home | Next > |
