Predictive Modeling and Mathematical Analysis

SRI has an established record of performance and scholarship in the field of archaeological spatial analysis. We have considerable practical knowledge of what techniques work best with different data sets and are aware of the various statistical and algorithmic assumptions that are critical when performing analyses and interpreting results. We work with our clients to identify the types of analyses that will contribute to the research or management questions at hand. SRI uses a wide range of techniques, both simple and complex, in the analysis of spatial data. In many cases, simple techniques are all that are required to make complicated data interpretable. Predictive modeling has become a popular tool in CRM, particularly for federal agencies in the western United States with an extensive land base to manage. SRI has conducted major predictive models and spatially based statistical assessments of archaeological resources for Nellis Air Force Base (AFB) in Nevada, for Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) in Arizona, and for the Department of Energy for a large portion of southeast New Mexico. SRI staff also has made contributions to the scientific literature on modeling and CRM.
