About Us title

SRI was established in 1983 by Jeffrey H. Altschul to provide a vehicle for creative people to do interesting and exciting work on the human condition. In meeting the goals of this unique mission, we respond to our nation's goal of preserving its diverse historical and cultural values by integrating exciting research with compliance work and providing timely and cost-effective services in cultural resource management and historic preservation.

SRI Means Service, Research, and Innovation

Service

We offer diverse services in archaeology, anthropology, history, and historic architecture. SRI specializes in applied research, and we focus on practical solutions to cultural resource management issues, balancing economic development with mandates to preserve the past. Our clients include the private and public sectors. We serve developers, planners, architectural firms, public agencies, and federal land managers. Each project is tailored specifically to meet the client's requirements. SRI's experienced and knowledgeable staff guides our clients through the cultural resource management process with ease and proficiency, ensuring that their projects are completed on time, within budget, and without costly delays.

Research

Our mission's key concepts of creativity, interest, and excitement ensure that our research meets the highest professional standards. SRI's products are widely recognized as among the best in the industry. Our staff includes widely recognized scholars and specialists in diverse fields. As our publications list demonstrates, we are committed to distributing our research results to public and professional audiences.

Innovation

At SRI, we are innovators, developing cutting-edge programs in geospatial technology, archaeometry, measurement and modeling, interdisciplinary studies, cultural-landscape studies, and public outreach. Why does this matter? Because we work with our clients to solve real-life problems in unique ways they may not have considered previously. Better methods yield cost-effective compliance and breakthrough research. Everyone benefits when innovation and research are fused.

When a client chooses SRI for historic-preservation needs, we provide the services, research, and innovation that have made SRI a leader in historic preservation. The company mission statement is not just a piece of paper in a file cabinet. At SRI, we live our mission daily, applying it in each and every project we undertake.
